Candida Guilliermondii Meningitis Associated with SARS-Cov-2 Infection: First Case Report

Background: The yeasts of Candida genus represent the 4th cause sepsis. However, they are rarely found in infections central nervous system. diagnosis is difficult and often delayed, worsening prognosis. Methods: A 47-year-old patient was admitted at emergency military hospital Tunis, Tunisia for SARS-COV-2 infection. After 4 days non-amelioration, a Lumbar Puncture (LP) performed culture on Sabouraud with or without Actidione ChromAgar® positive. Biochemical susceptibility to antifungal drags tests were using Vitek 2 Compact. To confirm this identification, Internal Transcribed Spacer 1 (ITS 1) gene amplified sequenced. Results: We present here rare case guillermondii meningitis infected by SARS-CoV-2. Although, isolate sensible all drugs, died post-COVID septic shock. Conclusion: COVID-19 an important death co-infection other killer worsens situation. Our description recommends exploring risk factors that lead development these neurological manifestations.
